Buying a house while receiving per diem

Joe Lazinski
Posted

As mentioned above, I work for a local utility contractor and am constantly moving in the area. I have worked with this company for over 5 years and ever since have received per diem. My residency is from a different state while working here and I am renting a apartment currently. After speaking with my superiors about buying a house they told me if I buy a house here I would lose my per diem because of establishing permanent residency. I am wondering if it is possible to buy a house through a LLC or different entity and rent it to my self, or some other way of buying without establishing on paper permanent residency therefore keeping my per diem.
