Land Contract or Contract for DEED and Bankruptcy

Hello BP family. My father has a few properties and is not doing well health wise. I asked if I could come in and look at his books. In doing so I discovered a few properties not preforming well, mainly because my father has too soft a heart and many people take advantage of him. The question I have is this. He has a house that is under a land contract or contract for deed. This contract started about 3 years ago and 1 year ago the family declared bankruptcy. When I asked why they are still there, my father responded with "Their lawyer said we could not evict them.". I asked if they are still in the house and that was answered with a "no". I asked if he had gotten a lawyer and he had, unfortunately the lawyer he likes is very very slow, years behind slow. How do I deal with this? How does my father get the house back? Have any of you gone though this?
