Should I Partner with Parents to Start Investing in Real Estate?

Posted

My parents and I have been looking to buy a house together in Wilmington, NC to have as my temporary home until they retire and move down to NC in about 10 years. They were going to put the whole down payment themselves and I would only have to pay a small portion of the mortgage for them while I live there. Instead, I wanted to know if it would be a better idea if we do a flip together where they put up the money for the down payment for the house and I do the work fixing the house up. I wanted to do this so when we go and sell the house I can use my half of the profit to start investing in real estate on my own. It would have to be an FHA deal since they do not have 20% for a decent flip and they are putting around $10,000 down for the house.
