How do I find owners of distressed, empty homes?

Hello,

I am a young & fresh investor, fighting to acquire his first fix & flip. I have my eyes on a handful of homes that are distressed and abandoned. No for sale signs outside, and winterized notices on front door. I see these as perfect investments to pursue but I'm having a hard time tracking down owners. Any tips?
