Investing in Charlotte NC

Hey BP, I am looking to start investing in the Charlotte NC area. I currently own a property in the north east but I am looking to make my money go a little further. Charlotte has appealed to me, particularly the UNC Charlotte area. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or intimate knowledge of the area that they would be willing to lend: areas to avoid, realtors, contractors, market specifics etc. Any help would be most appreciated!
