Solar Panels on Rental property

i am closing my first rental property in couple of days. it is new construction and as per california, all new homes should have solar panels on them. for some reason, solar company (sunpower) is not allowing me to lease the system (20 yrs lease, 48$ per month). i am negotiating with solar company for lease option, but would be a good idea to buy the system? since this is a rental property, will i get federal/state solar credit? thoughts/suggestions please.
