home equity loan on owner financing

I'm not saying I advocate or would do this, but I'm just curious-

Say you've purchased a home with owner financing. Would banks be able to see the lien on this property between you and the prior owner? Or would you then be able to turn around take out a home equity loan on the property, since the loan isn't through a bank and they might see it as free and clear?
