Newbie and looking to purchase first property

Hello all.. Super pumped to join the bigger pockets community, looking to soak up as much knowledge and wisdom from as many successful entrepreneurs as possible. My wife and I are passionate about purchasing our first property this year and begin our journey to long term financial freedom and building a successful rental property portfolio.

My wife is active duty Coast Guard so we move around a lot and I am a sales professional in the commercial and industrial paint industry. We would like to seek some advice on what our first purchase should be. We are currently stationed in Puerto Rico and want to know if Turnkey properties would be good to begin and invest in long distance rentals..We don't want to wait until we get back to the states to begin investing, but not sure if we feel comfortable investing here in Puerto Rico due to language barrier with potential tenants. Any suggestions would be great.. thanks again and excited to begin this new chapter of our life.
