Short-Term Income Ideas?

I used to work actively in real estate - locating large, strategic off-market parcels of land, negotiating contracts, finding Buyers, etc.  However, it has now been over 10 years since I was active.  I would like to get back involved in the business as it is my intention to build our portfolio (which now needs to be done relatively quickly, unfortunately) and rely on that for our retirement.  Due to unplanned circumstances, I am also in need of income right away.  Rather than get a job, which is proving to be very difficult having not worked in my industry (high-tech software sales in the xSP market) for the last 13+ years, I would prefer to 're-learn' the real estate industry and market that I hope will provide for our future. 

ALLLLLL that to say that I am looking for any ideas, insights, or suggestions on ways to make money quickly (and yes, I get it....I know that is a VERY DIFFICULT thing) in the real estate industry.  I am open to anything....I am a home-schooling mom but can plan whatever type of schedule would be needed, within reason.  Thanks in advance.  Laura
