Remote Investor Looking for State Recommendation

Hello! I'm a Canadian looking to invest in US real estate. I'm very new to this site, this industry, looking for first property, and have some questions:
1) Which state charges the least rental income tax?
2) How are their property taxes calculated?
3) This map shows landlord/renter friendliness. Is it true?

Of course I have many more questions about foreign ownership and lending too. If you have an accountant or mortgage broker to refer, please let me know. Thank you everyone for your help!

Hey there Carter.

I live in Ottawa and invest in South Bend, IN. Like you guys we suffer with high prices and low CAP rates (3-4%). Making stuff cashflow is very difficult. Investing in some US markets just makes sense. Here's a link to a Roofstock article identifying the top 7 real estate investment friendly states to help you in your search.
