Any advice on Vermont real estate? Skiers/near the mountains

I'm located in New York but ski/snowboard frequently in Vermont and was wondering if it would be advisable to buy real estate there. Has anyone been successful in doing this? 

I would be open to different ideas but figured either a place to rent year round or seasonally would be ideal, or use Air BnB that way I could also utilize it for ski trips. I usually go to Mount Snow and real estate around there is pretty expensive, but if I could find a good deal would it be worth it?
