Liberal arts major?
I finish my bachelors degree in May. I am a liberal arts major considering becoming a teacher but now I am leaning towards real estate agent and hopefully future real estate investor? What do you all suggest? Be a teacher and real estate investor? Or real estate agent and then try to become investor?
@Angel Cervantes be a teacher, if you will be graduating with your teaching credential. That is steady income, if you want you can try being an agent part time on the weekend, I believe the stats come out to something like 90%+ of RE agents quit after a couple years, because it is commission based work that fluctuates from month to month, it is also difficult to get new clients just starting out.
I went to college to be a music teacher. That didn't work out, and most realtors hate me. That's not advice, it's just evidence that I'm bad at school and have poor people skills.
@Aaron K. Thanks for the advice
@Aaron K.
Just like Aaron said. Be a teacher and be an agent part time. As your list of client grows you can be a teacher part time or not at all and become fully an agent. From your savings you can become an investor. I have a friend who is in IT, became an agent part time to pay off student loans earlier and then became an investor.
@Olufemi Olusanya thank you for the information. I was also considering doing real estate and being a substitute teacher to provide some sort of income.
@Angel Cervantes do what you will enjoy doing. You can always switch professions at some point
