Closing date extension
My husband and I put an offer in on a home and it was accepted. Our closing date was 10/31 contingent upon selling our current home. Our house hadn’t sold, so we secured financing NOT contingent on selling our home. With new financing, we needed more time to close (11/15 was the new closing date). The sellers agent told us on 10/27 that they would give us more time. We sent an addendum to extend the close date and never received a reply. On 11/4 (after contract end date) they said they were moving on. Is there anything we can do? We have been maintaining the yard for the seller for 2 months, paid $1,000 deposit, $500 for appraisal, and $800 in inspections. We’re upset because they ignored us for 8 days, until the contract was expired.
