Buying a fixer-upper or rental property

I am wondering if people typically purchase flips with only 1 bathroom. Is that a bad move? I see a lot of 3 BR, 1 BA--but hesitate when I see that.

I am also wondering how flippers make such radical design moves--do you hire a designer to do all that? I have found some ugly houses, and often stare at them not really knowing how to make them better!

Thanks for the insight.
