Real Estate Investing is like swimming in a river. Yes or no?

I have been trying to find the best analogy to describe real estate investing to the uninitiated. I think a swimming in a river is the best analogy I've found. What do you think?

Real estate deals can be fast or slow -- sometimes both at the same time. The best deals I've found, I had to jump quickly and then wait for months sometimes for other parties to resolve their issues. No matter how hard I tried to rush the process, it was like swimming upstream.
