Testing potential partners

Being as new as I am to the real estate investing I have trouble trusting others that claim they also want to be or are real estate investors. I just casually ask them if they know Joshua Dorkin as if he was the guy down the street and I wait for the response. If they aren’t sure I will follow it up with" what about Brandon Turner or David Green? ” This usually tells me everything I need to know. I just usually say oh okay just curious. Obviously the end result would be me wishing them luck in their future endeavors. I guess someone could argue that a really old school investor could be very successful and not be on any social and that may be true but you do have to have the ability to adapt to present day communication for networking and marketing if you wish to remain relevant. Maybe someone on their team handles that but in the few times this has happened to me that was not the case. #THEBPCHECK
