First investment property - Should I consider bay area?

I am looking to invest in my first rental property and considering bay area since I live here. I am not sure if this is a right idea or not because I am not looking to invest a lot. I have a budget of 20k and I am not sure if this would get me a good property or not.

If anyone who has been in the same boat or is currently looking to invest in bay area with around the same budget then please connect with me and may be we can help each other.

Thanks
