No crawl space access during inspection
I'm in the process of buying a duplex, and inspectors were not able to locate the crawl space access. After inspection, sellers confirmed it's somewhere underneath the carpet and they have denied us access to pull the carpet bc they don't know the exact location of it (units are occupied). The building is 1950s brick, with a detached garage that has severe termite damage and structural issues. Since we can't access the crawl space, it's hard to know if/how much termite damage (and whatever else) may have affected the duplex also. Naturally, I suspect the crawl space was intentionally concealed, but the agent says she doesn't believe the seller did that intentionally, and that the seller isn't aware of issues within the crawlspace. (that always gives me reason to believe otherwise)
Question: Can the agent knowingly conceal this information for the benefit of the seller, and what (if anything) could i do to ensure they're being transparent? (caveat - this same agent represents the seller and brought me the deal, which was not officially on market yet)
