Using equity for down payment on new property?

Last year we bought our first multi-family. Great location, very happy. Moving forward, we are going to start looking at other properties to grow. Would it be a bad choice to use equity from the home we have as a down payment on the current property? If there are other strategies, please share. Would like to make the 20%.
