Advice for a Newbie (Education, Books, Workshops, Mentors)

Hi! I’m new to this online community and Real Estate world. I’m starting this journey at 35, not married, no kids and coming from my family’s mentality of scarcity, discounts, savings, work hard, etc. I want to have a different type of mentality.

So I read Rich Dad Poor Dad. I’m reading Think and Grow Rich and will be attending Rich Dad Education’s Free Real Estate Workshop in a couple of weeks. Has anyone gone to that? What else would you recommend I do to educate myself? While I educate myself, I am saving, saving and saving because that’s all I know how to do.

Thank you so much! I feel a bit alone in this because I don’t think my family believes in passive income or investing and taking risks, as it can be associated with losing everything. I don’t want to think like that. I want to educate myself and take educated risks. Ahhh excited and tying to soak everything in slowly!

Hi Janitzia,

First its never too late to get started.  I think you are on the right path.  The first thing you need to do is shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance mentality.  Along with savings you need to increase your income.  That is probably more important than savings.

Take your time and don't feel like you have to rush this.  Learn as much on BP.  There are so many great minds here posting great content every day.  Once you begin the soak everything in, you need to create a game plan for yourself.  Good luck.
