Monthly meeting in Shelby, NC (40 minutes west of Charlotte)

Hello everyone. It has been quite a while since I've posted on BP; it's great to be back!

Quick question: when I attended REIA meetings in Georgia it seemed that most of the time there would be gurus trying to sell their material; there was very little real education and networking occurring. So, I would like to start a monthly real estate meet-up in Shelby, NC the 2nd Thursday of every month (location to be determined).

Is there a particular format/structure that you guys think would be successful? I will not have "gurus" coming to give their sales pitch; just like-minded individuals that can meet, network, and perhaps have someone discuss/teach a topic.

Thoughts?

Thank you all very much!
