Disadvantages to buying house with un-permitted room?
Hey friends... so what are your thoughts when buying a home that doesn't have a room permitted? For example the county says it's a 2 bed 2 bath but the listing says it's a 3 bed 2 bath--- the current owners enclosed a porch to make a bedroom. Would you just get it retro permitted? What are the disadvantages to buying it and NOT having it retro permitted? I'm thinking something like electric not done properly and starts a fire, insurance won't pay?? What are some best practices?
