Could drive for affordable housing make 2bd SFR more desirable

All the real estate trends I have been reading about the past couple months discuss low inventory for affordable housing as one of the primary drivers that is slowing the national markets down. With that being the case, could this potentially make 2 bedroom homes more desirable than the more commonly sought after 3 bedroom SFR? What are your thoughts? Do you believe smaller and more modestly priced homes may become more in demand than larger 3 and 4 bedroom homes in the next real estate cycle?
