Mobile Home - No Title

Hey there,

I'm trying to buy a mobile home but the seller doesn't have a title and the last couple sales of this home were via quitclaim deed. There is NO VIN# or Data Sticker inside. I've checked the closets, electric panel, cabinets etc... the home has been remodeled 3 times. All I found was a State of AL Resale Decal on the electric panel and the HUD tag riveted to the outside of the home. Neither of which can help title figure out make/model. And title can't seem to find any information regarding title. I even removed some skirting where the (removed) hitch used to be to find any kind of serial number stamped into a beam - nothing.

My questions is: Is there any way to use the AL resale Decal # (5 digits) or the HUD plate to search for make and model, or find previous title information? Of note, which is also quite odd, is that the owner says he does not pay taxes on the trailer, so it seems the county doesn't even really know about it. This is a baffling scenario.
