Data Filters..too many or not enough?

When you all are buying lists or collecting parameters for your data, what filters do you find to be the most efficient? The top two that i run for RVM and VB are Equity filters (at least 50%) and year built ( 1900 -2005). New Englanders like them old haha. I understand there are alot of filters that can be applied but at what point are you restricting your data?
