Bigger Pockets Fam, My wife and I currently live in So. Cal and would like to end up in Salt Lake in the next couple of years. We would like to start building our Real estate portfolio now in Utah. Thoughts on the SLC market? Are there specific submarkets that you would recommend? Thank you in advance! Kacy

@Ray Loveless it really depends on the city and the property. You can call them and find out the specifics. Finding a property on a main road or a neighborhood or street that has multi unit  is your best bet. I just contacted Provo a month or 2 ago about their rules and regulations. I was told that if you rented rooms 3 unrelated people can be in one residence. If you had a duplex or multi family it would be fine as individual rooms or the entire unit. Also on a single family with a mother in law that's totally separate it's easier to apply for zone verification. Showing it has been used as a duplex in past rented separately, call and  have someone from zoning look at the property and history and get non confirming duplex status is far easier than having it Re zoned. Again this is info I got specifically for Provo. Every area and property is different and you definitely need to call during your due diligence to verify with whatever plans you may have.
