Deed Transfer. Do I have options?

My father inherited a house last May. He wants to transfer the deed to me. I spoke to the attorney today. She said since it was done two months ago, we’d have to pay the transfer tax to transfer the deed again if it’s less than 1 years time.

Do I have any other options?
