Can a small land deal in SC be closed without an attorney?

We use a title company or attorney for our larger land deals. However, SC is an attorney state and we got our first piece of vacant land under contract. After speaking with two attorneys, they strongly recommended I didn't forego using an attorney and one even said I could be at risk for practicing law without a license. Is it possible to prepare the docs and close a small land deal ($4K) in SC without an attorney? If you've successfully done (or do it regularly) I'd love to connect with you. Thanks!
