Financial Analysis for Small Development Project

Hi,

I'm very new to the industry. My goal is to learn how to develop on existing property (maybe buying very old single home and knock it down to rebuild into several condo/townhouses). Wondering if there are financial analysis software out there I can buy, or if people usually use excel, is there a model/template I can study from to build my own. So far, I've only found ones for commercial property, but I'm not even sure how to build my own. Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you!
