Living Overseas - Investing in US Real Estate

Hi,

I am American but live overseas. I'd love to invest in single family homes in the US over where I am based for a few reasons (tax implications, language, banking made easy, etc.). Does anyone have any experience on the easiest way to go about doing this? Thanks.
