Dallas Rental Question - Condo/ Townhome

Looking to buy a rental property in Dallas. I currently live in Cali and own my home. Couldn't afford to buy another property here in SF bay area rental purpose.

I'll probably sell my home here in SF bay area in a year and move to Dallas. in the meanwhile, i'd like to get my feet wet by buying a condo or a town-home <120K or so and rent it out. Any recommendations? ]

Is this is a good idea?
