Home inspection today....you won’t believe this!

Hello BP community! We just had our home inspection today on a single-family house that’s part if a twin set up. Upon inspection of the attic, we discovered that our attic is connected to the next house. There is no wall to separate my attic space from my neighbors. It’s kind of scary, because my neighbor has a hole in one of her bedroom ceilings and I was able to look into her house. Also her steps to her attic are not locked. We figured this out when the inspector gave a push and he was able to open her steps. My question to you all is what recourse do I have? Can I build a wall in the attic myself to separate my side from their side? Should I contact the bank (this is a short sale) and ask them to fix it or do I just leave it and inform my soon to be tenants to put a lock on the attic access panel? Any suggestions are more than welcome.
