Will 'BRRRR' go away in the next housing downturn?

BRRRR seems to be a very popular method to acquire rentals these days. Do you think it's likely the BRRRR method will not be possible in the next housing downturn?

Also just wondering what is the history of BRRRR? I'm guessing it was possible during the last boom (until 2007 or so). But I doubt it was possible during the last housing crash. Or maybe one could do it but banks would only lend at like 60% or something ?
