FHA Loan issues- closing dec 22nd

Hi, My husband and I are in the process of buying a fixer upper through a FHA Loan. We just got the appraisal back and while going through it the appraiser noted that it doesn’t not meet the guidelines for FHA because of peeling paint on the garage door. The appraisal has not gone to underwriting yet. From experience is there a way we can get a ahead of this? I would hate to lose the house for this reason. We are willing to paint the garage ourselves if we have to and if the seller allows. I searched the forums for something similar and couldn’t find anything. Has anyone had this issue? We are supposed to close on Dec 22, 2017.

Paint the garage already! It’s the simplest thing to do, I’m sure the owner will be happy so they can sell.....it’s done all the time.
