Any idea where U.S. citizens can easily purchase land?

Hey everyone!

I'm interested to find a country, where purchasing land is not a huge ordeal. I know in many places you can invest a couple million $$$ to become a citizen and then purchase land. Some places require a local partner (usually at 51% of the company). Majority of countries offer possibilities of buying houses and apartments, which is not what i'm looking for.

If anyone has any idea or heard of any place that allows foreigners to purchase LAND somewhat painlessly, please let me know.

P.S. I visited sites similar to this, but didn't find information to be sufficient enough.
