Northeast to the Southeast for retirement
Hi everyone. Recently, my girlfriend and I went to a Clemson University football game in South Carolina. We absolutely fell in love with the city of Greenville in particular. Also, we met a number of people who recommended that on our next trip down that way that we check out Asheville, North Carolina.
I was born, raised, and invest solely in the northeast. I am planning my exit strategy from the fire department in the next 7-10 years, and would benefit from the tax advantages with regards to my pension in the southeastern states while maintaining my portfolio in the northeast.
Due to the fact that these are quite frankly markets that I am completely unfamiliar with, I’d like some recommendations of cities and towns in the Carolinas and Georgia that may be similar to what we found in Greenville and what we believe Asheville may be like.
What are some great residential multi family areas to invest in if I were to try and expand my business in this region? What general insight can be provided regarding areas for my own personal single family residence? Finally, I would like to just hear some thoughts, opinions, and interesting facts related to the area as well as investing these areas as well as recommendations. The more insight provided, the more of a baseline I can begin to formulate and then I can get a bit more precise with my exploration.
