Considering buying a Triplex or a 4-plex unit

Hello all!

So.. I am bit new to RE investing. My lease is up in May 2018 and I am considering purchasing my first property because I hate paying rent every month and not seeing a return. Since I have never owned a home, I am hoping to apply for a first time home owner mortgage and purchase a triplex or 4 unit building and reside in one unit, while renting out the others. Maybe live there for 2-3 years then move again once I see a great return on it.

Do you all think this is a good idea?
