Selling agent trying to be both: selling and buying one

Hi, i am very newbie into real estate and i am about to make my first offer in SoCal.

I found a deal my self, contacted a listing agent and she sent me an offer letter to sign up. Then, i found out that i need help to check papers and my friends wife is a RE agent decided to help me with that as buying agent(my side).  After i told listing agent that my buying agent is checking a deal, she didn't get happy as i see from her response: "Buying agent?", and then farther answers. She want's both parts of commission as i see.

Few quick questions to all very respected BP users:

Did you have similar experience?

Can you share your thoughts on going with your own agent, and possibly loosing a good deal?

Or just having your agent check the offer and proceed with listing agent on both sides? - not much trust in this case.
