What questions to ask when vetting a contractor?

Hello BP community! Although this is my first post, I have really enjoyed reading the the communities discussions since signing up. I have a couple of question about vetting contractors. What kind of questions do you recommend asking? What kind of information should I be looking to find out before moving forward with them? Any and all advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

There are so many - first question is before even talking to them is ask for copy of license and insurance certificate. And then look them up in your states system to confirm the license is valid
