Is Multi-Family units or single family homes better investments?

Do you prefer to invest in Multi-Family units or single family homes?  I would like to eventually quit my day job and just live off of the cash flow of rentals.  I heard that if you have a multi-family unit you will get better property management and more cash flow than a bunch of single family homes.  Any input is greatly appreciated.  Thank you
