How much home can you buy in each state

Saw this article this weekend ranking states by how much home you can buy in each for $300k (Source: What Does $300k Buy You in Each State?). I live in Arizona which is ranked 28th at a median price per sq/ft of $140. This number seems high based on my experience, but still an interesting analysis if you are looking to invest in other markets. I am interested to hear if others feel this analysis is realistic in terms of cost per sq/ft.
