Eager to Get Started - Sell or Rent Home

Hi All - My wife and I have been gifted a home that appraised for $250k. With this great and amazing gift we are trying to decide the best course of action for us to get started in real estate. We know that if we want to sell the house that we should live in it for at least 2 years just prior to selling so take advantage of capital gains tax exemption. We have been discussing 1) Move in now, wait 2 years then sell and use the capital to invest in other rentals or? 2) Rent the house out now and use my VA entitlement to buy a 4 unit complex, live in one unit and rent outthe other 3. After the year is up move into the house for 2 years and sell it, payoff 4 unit complex then buy another 4 unit with my VA entitlement again. 3) Rent the house out on a long term basisand thenmove into the house for the last 2 years before selling at some point in time. Meanwhile pursue the 4 unit complex approach

I'm sure there are other ideas and options so I thank you in advance for your time, ideas and feedback.
