Found desirable properties after driving for dollars

Hey Guys -

I've identified properties that I'd like to find out more information on / make offers on (they need work but are in a desirable neighborhood in my opinion). How should I go about figuring out who the owner is and getting the necessary information from him / her that I will need to make an accurate offer? Owner information isn't listed on Redfin /Zillow, etc. How do I get him to give me that info?

The properties that I have found are in San Francisco where I live.

Thanks,

Julius

Hi Julius,

There are numerous ways to go about finding this information. A popular and free way is to run a property search through your local county accessor website. Doesn't always work 100% of the time, but generally gives you information as to who is on the deed, instrument type, appraised values, liens etc. A more in-depth alternative, which I have found a lot of success in using, is Realty Trac. Will give owner's name and taxable address (good for getting ahold of absentee owners). It will also show current mortgages and loan to value ratios as well as good comps and solid after repair values. Only disadvantage is that it's a monthly subscription.

Hope this helps!
