Hi all,

I am in the process of buying a second home and today received some news that is annoying. So we have had the home inspection done and have a closing date in June. One of the deficiencies the home inspector noted was the heat furnace had rust in it and may be cracked and may need replacement. So the sellers agreed to have someone inspect it. That person's report says it is totally normal due to condensation. Our home inspector is extremely knowledgeable about homes and was quite concerned whereas the service person who checked the heat furnace couldn't believe he was called over this.

So the annoying news today is that even though the house has been under contract 3 weeks and we have a closing date, the seller's realtor told our realtor today "We are having an open house this weekend, it was scheduled a long time ago so we intend to go through with it."

I am no expert in real estate, but that sounds absurd to me. We are closing 5 weeks and you are having open houses? Is this just retaliation because we wanted the heat furnace checked according to the home inspector's concerns?

What say you?
