What does of a client of mine need to do in order to turn their funds into self-directed funds so they can invest? They want to invest in several opportunities we have but self-directed IRA etc... is not my expertise.

Thank you for your information. I greatly appreciate it.

Steve, your client need to setup self-directed IRA with a custodian allowing alternative investments, rollover their funds and invest. If he wants to have total control over his retirement funds instead of going through a middle man for every investment and every transaction then he may want to explore Checkbook IRA

There are number of professionals here on the forum who can help and this topic is a frequent discussion so if you have your client do a simple search using the keyword a lot of past discussions will come up which he can read and learn from.
