Looking for the right mentor

Hello everyone!

During the past half a year or so, I've been researching as much as I can about real estate as possible. I know the general gist of it, however, there's always room for growth! That's what I'm looking for someone who knows how to get things done. The catch, though, is that I'm slightly confused as how to get started with it. I've been trying my best to look for a mentor so that way I could grow with a knowledgeable person by my side, but most seem to be turned off because of my age. I have a real passion for learning, so do you fellow members have any sort of tips on exactly how to get a mentor? If you are a mentor yourself, what do you look for when you first meet someone? I'd love to hear your replies!
