Real Estate Investing or Stock Market

I hope this post belongs on this forum. I'm definitely going to start a wholesaling business, but that's not real estate investing.

I'm trying to decide whether to put my (hopeful) earnings from wholesaling into real estate investments or into the stock market.

With real estate, I would need to put large sums of down payment money into a building, then rehab it and refinance. With refinancing, could I potentially get every dollar back? I would expect to make a few hundred/month/house and then for the house to appreciate over the course of the 30 year loan so I could sell them all for potentially millions when I'm older. I could also take advantage of 1031 exchanges along the way.

There is also fix and flip projects, which, if I did constantly, could provide another $50-60k of income per year at the smallest scale.

This is a lot to think about and could drastically affect my life seeing as I'm only 29.

If I went with stocks, they would be index funds.
