Buying a former drug lab - stay away or...if the price is right?

I suspect this will come down to more than just the math for most but I was curious if anyone has had experience with this personally or know someone that has.  If so, what was the outcome?  My initial inclination is to simply just steer clear but what if it could be purchased for say 40-50% of market?  Can these houses ever truly rid of their negative history?
