Newbie investor from NYC

I'm 28 and have worked in finance for seven years. I have been fairly successful in this field but I'm now looking to move on and real estate has always been an area of interest. I would like to become a successful buy and hold long-term investor. I'm joining this website to learn as much as possible from other successful investors, especially those more experienced ones who have lived through several cycles.

What I bring to the table: Good investment acumen (have been investing in companies for 5+ years), time/energy to devote to learning (on nights and weekends as I still have a full-time job) and capital to invest from myself and others once I have learned enough to know I’m not the patsy at the table.

Anyone in the NYC area who is willing to bring me under their wing will not regret it. I’m particularly interested in learning more about distressed re investing and specifically about sourcing/deal flow and legal aspects.

Look forward to connecting with someone and getting advice on additional resources
