Help! Finding a good Real Estate Agent as a First Time buyer??

I'm looking in the Jersey City/Union city area for two families, but I can't seem to find a real estate agent. How does one go about finding someone and knowing they are good? I'd be doing FHA with lower down payment. Does that matter to a real estate agent? Any advice would be greatly helpful!
